Kangaroo Island is located 110 km Southwest of Adelaide, easily accessed by ferry or plane. A mix of attractive small townships and fascinating wilderness, Kangaroo Island is Australia's third largest island.

The Kangaroo Island Council covers an area of approximately 4400 square kilometres and is home to a population of approximately 5125 permanent and temporary residents, and approximately 200,000 state, interstate and international tourists each year. Tourism and agriculture consisting of sheep, wool, grains, fishing and forestry are the major industries contributing to the Island's economy. Proud of it's natural beauty, residents enjoy a high quality of life, with the Island well positioned for a prosperous and vibrant future.

Reporting to the CEO and assisted by a Human Resources Advisor, key responsibilities of this critical role will include:

- Fostering a high-performance culture and enhancing employee engagement

- Developing a workforce strategy, supporting leadership to implement effective workforce planning and effective performance management practices

- Partnering with the CEO, Executive Team and Managers to strengthen organisational capability, accountability, performance and respect

- Ensuring compliance of and contributing to the delivery of Council’s Strategic Plan

- Assuming the role as lead adviser on workforce performance, culture, employee and industrial relations,



organisational development, WHS compliance employee wellbeing, and related governance matters

- Leading enterprise bargaining, consultation and organisational change

- Improving regional attraction, retention and succession outcomes

- Establishing effective workforce governance, reporting and analytics.

Proven and broad People & Culture/Human Resources experience delivered in a diverse and highly regulated setting, along with outstanding communication and negotiation skills and a highly professional and resilient manner will be essential.

A proactive, confidential change leader with high attention to detail, the ability to influence and work with a wide range of stakeholders and possessing relevant tertiary qualifications is the ideal background.

Prior experience working in remote, rural/regional areas and a willingness to relocate to Kangaroo Island will be required.
