We are seeking a qualified or suitably experienced Carpenter / Labourer to undertake skilled carpentry on construction and repair projects in Tully, with travel to project sites as required. The principal duties involve constructing, installing and repairing timber frameworks and building fixtures. The role also includes incidental assistance to other trades with materials and site activities.

About the Role
You will interpret drawings, select and prepare materials, measure, cut and assemble components, erect frameworks and install or repair building fixtures. You will work safely with hand and power tools, check the accuracy of completed work and coordinate day-to-day carpentry tasks with the site team. Any assistance with steel or aluminium fabrication will be secondary to the carpentry duties and within your training, competence and authorisations.

Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret drawings, plans and specifications to determine dimensions, materials and installation requirements.
Select and order timber and other building materials, prepare layouts, and organise tools and equipment for assigned works.
Measure, mark, cut, shape, assemble and fix timber and other suitable building components, including cutting and fitting wood joints.
Construct and erect timber building frameworks, partitions, panelised systems and roof framing; verify levels, alignment and trueness.
Lay sub-flooring and floorboards, fit fascia and roof sheathing, install exterior cladding, and fit door and window frames as required by each project.
Assemble and install prepared wood structures and fittings, including stair components, door frames, rafters and related fixtures.
Construct concrete formwork and repair or renovate existing timber structures and fittings where required.
Work with lightweight steel, plastic laminates, Perspex and other materials where they form part of assigned carpentry work.
Provide incidental assistance to steel and aluminium tradespersons with materials,



fabrication preparation and site tasks within your competence; perform welding only if trained and authorised.
Inspect completed work against plans and specifications, identify defects and undertake appropriate rectification.
Coordinate tasks with fellow tradespeople, maintain accurate job records and report progress, materials needs and safety issues to management.
Follow site safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment and operate machinery only where appropriately trained and licensed.

Permanent full-time employment based in Tully, with work at project sites as required.
$79k - 90k per annum plus superannuation.
Varied hands-on carpentry work across construction, installation, renovation and repair projects.
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant carpentry trade qualification, such as AQF Certificate III in Carpentry (including required on-the-job training), AQF Certificate IV or equivalent; or at least three years of relevant carpentry experience in a similar environment in lieu of a formal qualification.
Demonstrated experience in a similar environment constructing, erecting, installing and repairing building frameworks and fixtures, with the ability to complete skilled carpentry duties independently.
Experience interpreting plans, selecting materials and checking dimensions and quality of completed work.
Skills
Sound knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, hand tools and power tools.
Ability to measure accurately, calculate material quantities and interpret construction drawings.
Good organisation, practical problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.
Commitment to safe work practices, attention to detail and accurate job records.
Licences and Other Requirements
Construction Industry White Card and any construction or machinery licences required for assigned work.
Ability to travel to project sites; a current driver's licence is required.
Any regulated or licensed task will be performed only by a person with the required qualification, licence and authorisation.
