ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and technically accomplished Engineering Technologist to join our Engineering department on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a senior technical role that sits at the heart of APS's engineering capability, responsible for the analysis, evaluation, and application of engineering technologies across our diverse project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse and evaluate existing and emerging engineering technologies relevant to APS's service areas including modular access systems, steel fabrication methods, and prepare technical evaluation reports with recommendations;

• Support the technical planning and methodology development for civil engineering projects, including the evaluation of construction sequencing, engineering feasibility, and design constraints, working in collaboration with registered professional engineers and senior project staff;

• Apply engineering principles to develop technical design solutions for scaffolding systems, suspended access platforms, steel structures, and rigging configurations,



utilising engineering software and calculation tools to verify structural and mechanical performance of proposed designs;

• Prepare and review technical drawings, engineering schemas, method statements, structural calculations, and technical submittals; interpret engineering and architectural drawings to provide technical guidance on construction methodologies, including precast and prefabricated element installation techniques, and resolve technical queries arising during project execution;

• Develop testing protocols and inspection criteria for engineering technologies and systems deployed across APS projects; evaluate and monitor the deployment of construction plant, equipment, and materials on site to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and approved method statements;

• Develop detailed engineering activity programmes and technical work schedules to optimise construction sequencing and resource allocation;

• Prepare engineering reports, feasibility assessments, capability statements, and technical specifications in support of project tendering and delivery;

• Liaise with registered engineers, project managers, clients, regulatory bodies,



and third-party verifiers on technical engineering matters; contribute to the continuous improvement of APS engineering procedures, technical standards, and quality management documentation;

• Provide specialist technical advice to project teams, fabrication personnel, and management; analyse field performance data; support internal knowledge transfer and capability development; and participate in post-project technical reviews to identify lessons learned and drive ongoing improvement to engineering methodologies.

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline;

• Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in an engineering technology role involving the analysis, evaluation, and application of engineering solutions

• Sound understanding of engineering principles as applied to industrial infrastructure, civil works, and access systems, including familiarity with local government infrastructure assets and technical standards

• Demonstrated knowledge of work health and safety legislation and compliance frameworks applicable to construction and civil engineering works in Victoria

• Robust technical skills across engineering analysis, design support, and project delivery, with demonstrated project management capabilities across multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects

• Computer literacy with project management systems and engineering software, including MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD platforms

• Excellent attention to detail in the interpretation and preparation of engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
