About the Role

An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager to join QIC’s Exposure Management team in Brisbane.

This is a senior investment role responsible for leading the implementation of complex and non-routine trade instructions across multiple asset classes – primarily using derivatives. Working closely with clients, portfolio managers,



traders and service providers, the role supports the implementation and ongoing management of investment mandates.

The position will play an important role in delivering mandate transitions, portfolio restructures, asset allocation changes, liquidity management activities and complex investment strategies. It will also support the development and implementation of new client solutions, providing relevant investment context and advice to help clients understand the portfolio, currency, cash flow and risk implications of different decisions.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading client portfolio instructions, including transitions and other complex requests.
- Supporting the establishment and implementation of new mandates, overlay solutions and client opportunities.
- Managing client mandates and ensuring portfolio exposures remain aligned with agreed objectives and targets.
- Providing subject matter expertise across listed and OTC derivatives, including futures, forwards, options and total return swaps.
- Assessing the exposure, currency, liquidity, cash flow and risk implications of different implementation approaches.
- Delivering accurate, timely and insightful client reporting.
- Providing technical and investment context to support client portfolio decisions.
- Working closely with the trading team to ensure execution requirements are properly considered.
- Contributing to research, projects and process improvements that strengthen risk management and support the ongoing evolution of the capability.
- Building trusted relationships across clients, internal investment teams, risk, legal and other key stakeholders.

About You

This opportunity will suit an experienced investment professional with broad financial markets knowledge and the ability to work confidently across complex client portfolios.

A deep understanding of and practical experience with derivatives is essential, ideallyacross multiple asset classes,



including fixed income, equities, foreign exchange.

However, strong technical depth in a particular market or asset class, combined with the ability to apply that knowledge across broader portfolio challenges, may also be considered.

Strong client and stakeholder capability will be essential.

The successful candidate will be comfortable exploring the rationale behind portfolio decisions, translating complex concepts into clear insights and providing informed advice to both technical and non-technical audiences

The ideal background will include:

- Preferred 10+ years and minimum 5 years experience within investment management, financial markets, funds management, superannuation, investment banking or a related institutional investment environment.
- Knowledge of portfolio construction, exposure management, overlay strategies or investment implementation.
- Experience with listed and OTC derivative instruments and structured synthetic derivatives.
- An understanding of foreign exchange markets and FX hedging approaches for multi-currency portfolios.
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving capability.
- The ability to distil complex analysis into clear, client-ready insights.
- Sound commercial judgement and a strong appreciation of investment and operational risk.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and intellectual rigour.
- A tertiary qualification in finance, economics, mathematics or a related discipline

This is a Brisbane-based role within a highly collaborative environment involving regular interaction across portfolio management, client and trading teams. Candidates currently based interstate may also be considered where they are willing to relocate to Brisbane.
