About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join a high-performing Data and Reporting team. This role will be instrumental in advancing the organisation's data analytics, reporting, and insights capabilities through the development of trusted datasets, advanced visualisations, and actionable business intelligence. The successful candidate will bring robust expertise in data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to transform complex data into meaningful insights that support executive decision-making. You will work closely with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders to develop scalable reporting solutions, improve data quality, and promote best practice analytics across the organisation. Contract: Initial 12 Months + 1 x 12-Month Extension

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1)

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

Provide expert advice on complex data extraction, transformation, analytics, and visualisation activities.

- Collect, manage, interpret, and analyse complex datasets to support business and operational decision-making.
- Develop meaningful data insights, trends analysis, and evidence-based recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Design and develop executive dashboards, reports, and visualisations using Power BI.
- Create compelling data stories and presentations tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Partner with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to develop trusted and scalable reporting datasets.




- Conduct data quality assessments and ensure ongoing data integrity and accuracy.
- Support reporting requirements through the analysis and publication of trends, anomalies, and business insights.
- Contribute to data innovation initiatives and continuous improvement strategies.
- Promote reporting governance, data stewardship, and single source of truth principles.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and knowledge sharing across the analytics team.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practice data standards.
- Work independently while managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Communicate analytical findings and recommendations to executive stakeholders and project teams.

Desired Experience and CapabilitiesMinimum 8 years' experience working as a Senior Data Analyst within complex enterprise environments.

- Strong experience delivering data analysis, reporting, business intelligence, and data-driven insights.
- Advanced expertise in SQL, Power BI, DAX, Python, and modern analytics platforms.
- Experience developing executive dashboards, reporting solutions, and visual analytics products.
- Strong experience working with Azure Databricks and cloud-based data environments.
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise reporting and analytics solutions.
- Strong understanding of data modelling methodologies, including Star Schema modelling.
- Experience supporting data quality, governance, lineage, and reporting controls.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and version control practices.
- Strong understanding of Azure Data Lake concepts and modern data architectures.
- Knowledge of Medallion Architecture and Gold Layer reporting datasets.
- Experience working with Data Engineers and Data Scientists within integrated data teams.




- Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders and present insights effectively.
- Experience mentoring team members and uplifting analytics capability.

Skills RequirementsAdvanced

SQL & Data Analysis – Strong capability in data extraction, transformation, analysis, and complex querying.

Power BI & Data Visualisation – Expert-level Power BI development, dashboard design, and reporting delivery.

Advanced DAX & Data Modelling – Experience developing complex DAX measures and Star Schema data models.

Azure Databricks & Cloud Analytics – Experience working within cloud-based analytics and reporting environments.

Python Programming – Strong capability in data manipulation, analytics, and automation using Python.

Data Storytelling – Ability to communicate complex insights effectively through visualisations and executive reporting.

Data Governance & Quality – Strong understanding of data quality, lineage, governance, and reporting standards.

Stakeholder Engagement – Proven ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

AI & Copilot Capability – Understanding of AI-enabled analytics and productivity tools.

Preferred QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

- Relevant Microsoft certifications in Power BI, Azure Data, or Data Analytics.
- Experience working within Federal Government or highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of modern cloud-based data platform architectures and analytics ecosystems.
- Experience supporting enterprise reporting governance frameworks.
- Additional RequirementsAustralian Citizenship is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.
- 37.5 hours per week.
- Hybrid working model with a minimum of one day per week in the office.
- Additional in-person team planning and collaboration activities required as needed.
- Core working hours are between 8:30am and 5:00pm.
