The Opportunity

The Early Years Partnerships team is looking for an experienced professional to work with families across our playgroup programs. These programs support parents and carers to build skills and confidence, helping improve children’s learning, development and wellbeing. This position reports to the Playgroups Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide casual relief support to deliver developmentally appropriate play experiences for children aged 0–5 years in a playgroup setting.
- Support families to participate in activities with their children and model positive parenting practices using evidence-based programs such as small talk.
- Engage and support families to build parenting confidence, strengthen skills and develop social connections.
- Work with the Supported Playgroups team to deliver program activities and administration responsibilities.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

- Tertiary qualification in early childhood, community development services, education, health welfare, social work or related field or knowledge and skills gained through on-the-job training.
- Relevant experience in working with families with young children, including those who are experiencing disadvantage.
- Understanding of child development and play based learning in the context of the family environment and the playgroup setting.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues and situations as they arise.
- Experience providing professional, effective and efficient administration functions.
- Roster availability three- five days per week over school terms.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
