About the role

The Motel Manager role includes participation in the preparation of annual motel operating budgets and financial plans, monitoring budget and controlling labour costs and expenses with a focus on rate strategy, building initiatives and inventory management. The role involves maintaining procedures for security of monies, credit and financial transactions, guest security, and inventory control. You will use company systems and processes to maximise revenue, develop plans to increase occupancy and ADR through walk-ins and upselling at the front desk, and ensure guests are greeted upon arrival with effective interaction. The position includes first-line management of property reservations through Phone, Web, Email, Walk-in and online channels, and conducting first line financial management of property accounting.

Key responsibilities

- Participate in the preparation of the annual motel operating budget and financial plans, monitoring budget and controlling labour costs and expenses with a focus on rate strategy, building initiatives and inventory management

- Maintain procedures for security of monies, credit and financial transactions, guest security, and inventory control

- Use company systems and processes to maximise revenue and develop plans to increase occupancy and ADR through walk-ins and upselling at the front desk

- Ensure guests are greeted upon arrival and interact effectively with guests,



responding appropriately to complaints, soliciting feedback and building relationships that drive continuous improvements in guest satisfaction

- Provide first-line management of property reservations through Phone, Web, Email, Walk-in and online channels

- Assist in after-hours guest assistance, including late check-ins and resolution of any issues

- Conduct first line financial management of property accounting

- Manage the marketing and promotions of the business via travel websites, local council and Tourist Information Centre

- Maintain and regularly update social media pages

- Manage housekeeping staff, cleaning rosters, cleaning inventory and room availabilities

About you

- At least 5 years working experience as a motel manager

- Proven track record of managing budgets, achieving targets, and maximising profitability

- Good experience and knowledge of revenue management processes and implementing rate strategies

- Knowledge of reservation and property management systems, and industry best practices

- Willing to provide the details of professional referees including one that is a current or recent line manager

- Daily motel maintenance skills preferred

- Able to live in office at the motel and assist with breakfast service highly preferred
