Heritage NSW works with communities to protect, celebrate and manage our incredible heritage across NSW. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Heritage Data and Assurance Officer to join Heritage NSW within Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Workplace and Water. In this temporary role, you will play a key part in supporting the delivery of heritage programs by improving the quality, consistency and integrity of heritage data across NSW Government agencies.

The role is responsible for analysing heritage and conservation register data, identifying data quality issues, supporting compliance with Section 170 heritage reporting requirements, and providing insights that inform heritage listing and conservation priorities. Working closely with government agencies and internal stakeholders, you will help strengthen reporting frameworks, improve data governance practices, and contribute to heritage reform initiatives.

To be successful, you will bring strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and experience working with complex or incomplete datasets. Knowledge of heritage registers, asset management, Section 170 programs, or similar regulatory and reporting frameworks will be highly regarded.

This role would suit someone who enjoys turning data into meaningful insights, collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders, and contributing to the protection and management of NSW's heritage assets.

About You

You are a highly organised and analytical professional with experience working with complex datasets and a passion for maintaining data quality, accuracy and integrity. You enjoy investigating issues, identifying trends and translating data into meaningful insights that support informed decision-making.





You have strong problem-solving skills and can confidently manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes. You are comfortable working with incomplete or inconsistent information, applying sound judgement and attention to detail to ensure reporting is accurate and reliable.

A collaborative communicator, you build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders and can clearly explain complex information to diverse audiences. You take a proactive approach to engaging with others to improve data quality, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

Ideally, you will bring experience in data analysis, data assurance, reporting, information management or a related field, along with an understanding of heritage registers, heritage asset management, Section 170 requirements or similar compliance and reporting frameworks. Relevant tertiary qualifications in data analysis, data assurance, data management, or equivalent experience are essential. Most importantly, you are motivated by contributing to meaningful outcomes and are excited by the opportunity to support the protection, management and recognition of NSW's heritage assets for future generations.

Essential Requirements

- Tertiary qualifications in Data Analysis, Data Assurance, Data Management and/or equivalent demonstrated experience.
