About The Role:

Homespun magazine is the leading Australian multi-craft media group and we are looking for a current editor to lead the brand. This is a freelance contract role and the ideal candidate will be deeply passionate about quilting and crafting with knowledge for what multi-craft makers are looking for. This role involves commissioning popular projects and creating engaging magazine and digital content for our audiences, to keep them informed and entertained with the latest developments in the market.

We are looking for:

- A die-hard craft lover with an in-depth knowledge of the quilting and crafting landscape in Australia, including the talented designers, businesses and brands that make it.

- Plus, the natural ability to build and nurture important relationships withing the craft community.





- A strong writer and storyteller who can create and commission compelling content, whether it's a project, an exclusive interview, news story or creative feature article.

- A savvy social media, video and digital enthusiast.

- And a strong production player who can meet production deadlines and work in a fast-paced team.

Each issue, you will:

- Commission, write, edit, and oversee the production of high-quality content, including craft projects, news, interviews, and features.

- Develop and implement editorial strategies to increase reader engagement and brand development.

- Collaborate with the digital and social media team to promote content that engages the Homespun audience across platforms.

- Stay up-to-date with the latest news trends in the quilting and craft landscape, ensuring our content is current and relevant.

- Manage a freelance budget effectively, ensuring a wide variety and diversity of content and contributors.

Requirements:

- Proven experience in journalism, content creation, or a similar role.

- Strong knowledge of Australian craft industry

- Excellent writing, editing, production and communication skills
