Our Future State team sits at the intersection of insight, strategy and place. We support public and private sector clients to navigate complexity, define problems, identify opportunities and make informed decisions about the future of cities, precincts and places through evidence-based strategies and collaborative engagement.
Our work rarely starts with a simple answer. We explore the bigger picture, connect ideas across disciplines and translate evidence into clear strategic direction. This position will suit someone who is intellectually curious, comfortable with ambiguity and energised by turning complex information into clear ideas, stories and strategies.
As a Consultant within our Brisbane or Melbourne FSI team, you will:
- Explore and investigate complex urban, social, economic and place-based questions through research, benchmarking, data analysis and stakeholder insight.
- Structure problems and connect the dots, identifying patterns, opportunities and implications across different disciplines and sources of evidence.
- Turn insight into strategy, helping develop place visions, strategic frameworks, recommendations and practical pathways for implementation.
- Communicate ideas clearly and creatively, translating complex thinking into concise reports, presentations,
diagrams and compelling narratives.
- Contribute to conversations, bringing your own observations, questions and ideas to project teams, workshops and client discussions.
- Support project delivery, working closely with senior strategists and Directors across project coordination, engagement and client interface.
- Build and maintain client and stakeholder relationship, while contributing to tenders, proposals and broader business development activities

- A tertiary qualification in or equivalent experience in Design, Economics, Geography, Planning or Property, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role - prior consultancy or another fast-paced professional services, multidisciplinary environment is essential
- A genuine curiosity about cities, place, people and the forces shaping their future
- Proven understanding of regional and urban issues, including economic, urban planning, transport and property development contexts that impact place-making
- You bring an inquisitive mindset and a passion for solving complex problems that require economic, social, and other niche industry analysis
- Robust research and analytical capability, with the ability to move beyond information gathering to ask: "so what does this mean?".
- The ability to synthesise complexity, recognise patterns and translate evidence into clear insights and recommendations.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute ideas,
challenge thinking constructively and learn from different disciplines.
- Solid written, verbal and visual communication skills, with an instinct for making complicated ideas simple, engaging and useful.
- Passion for purpose-led work, and driving a positive legacy for our communities, clients and yourself
- Authenticity to foster respect, trust and advocacy in all your work interactions
- Confidence and decisiveness to drive high performance for yourself, others and our clients
- Confidence working with ambiguity, asking the right questions and find a way forward when answer in unclear at the beginning
