Foxy Home Staging
Brisbane
We're looking for our first HR hire. We're 60+ people across styling, logistics and our office team, growing fast, and our founders have carried HR alongside everything else for long enough. We need someone who can build it properly from here: keep us compliant, fix our onboarding, and give every team member a clear path forward. If you've been waiting for the chance to own HR rather than support someone else's version of it, this is it.
About us
Foxy Group is a home staging and interiors business in South East Queensland, made up of Foxy Home Staging, Arctic Interiors and Blink Living. We stage close to 2,000 properties a year with a team of 60+ stylists, logistics crew, warehouse staff and office team. We're growing fast and have ambitious targets.
Until now, HR has been handled by our founders, around everything else. It works, but it doesn't scale. We're doing some things well and plenty of things "when we get to it".
If you want polished policies, a big HR team and a slow pace, this role will frustrate you. If you like walking into something half-built and making it work properly, you'll love it here.
The role
You'll be our first dedicated HR person, responsible for making sure our people are hired well, started well, looked after properly and always know where they're heading. You won't be an admin layer. You'll own the systems, keep us compliant, and be the person our leaders turn to when a people issue gets tricky.
We're a business that uses AI and smart systems wherever they make us better, and we'd expect our HR function to do the same, whether that's drafting policies and onboarding content, building templates, or finding faster ways to handle admin.
What success looks like in your first 12 months
- Every new starter goes through a structured onboarding program, with 30/60/90-day check-ins completed on time
- Reviews happen on schedule across the business, outcomes are recorded, and promised progressions land in the pay run
- Published career pathways for styling and logistics that our team understands and actually uses
- Team leaders handle everyday performance conversations confidently, using guides you've built
- A hiring process that gets us from ad to shortlist without the founders in the weeds
- Accurate pays and records, and no surprises on Fair Work, awards or WHS
What you'll own
Protect the business
- Compliance with Fair Work, awards, the NES and employment contracts
- Workers compensation, return-to-work, and supporting WHS across our warehouse and truck fleet
- Grievances, workplace concerns and investigations
- Accurate employee records
Run the people engine
- Preparing the fortnightly pay run in Xero: leave, allowances and pay changes. It's already streamlined, so this takes a few hours a fortnight, not days.
- Recruitment: writing and posting ads, screening applications, and running first-round interviews before shortlisting for final interviews with our founders and leaders
- Rebuilding our onboarding from day one onwards: induction content, videos, uniforms and check-ins
- Running the review calendar: scheduling, preparing leaders and recording outcomes
- Working with our logistics and styling leads to build and publish clear career pathways
- Building our core values into hiring, onboarding and reviews
Back our leaders
- Advising team leaders through performance issues, warnings and terminations so they're handled fairly and properly
- Building simple guides and playbooks so leaders can run positive conversations themselves
- Helping newer team leaders prepare for the hard conversations
Who we're looking for
- 3+ years in an HR Advisor or HR Generalist role, ideally including time as a solo HR person or in a small team
- Solid working knowledge of Australian employment law and award interpretation
- Hands-on experience with performance management and employee relations, preferably with a field, logistics, trade or warehouse-based workforce
- Workers comp and WHS experience
- Xero payroll experience is a bonus, but we'll teach you our process
- Experienced with AI tools, or genuinely curious about them. You're the type to ask "could AI do the first draft of this?" before starting from a blank page.
- Comfortable being a team of one: you'll build things without a template, and you won't wait for permission
- Direct and practical. You can tell a team leader "that's not how we handle this" and keep the relationship intact.
What's in it for you
- $90–100K + super, depending on experience
- Your first real chance to own HR: build the function from scratch in a business that genuinely wants it built
- Direct access to our founders and real influence on how we grow our people
- A friendly, down-to-earth team that works hard and likes each other
How to apply
Along with your resume, please include:
1. A short HR snapshot: For your last two roles, include headcount supported, industry, main awards you worked with, and whether you were a solo HR person or part of a team. Also tell us one way you've used AI in your work, or would like to.
2. A written answer (up to 200 words): A team leader tells you he wants to issue a final warning to an offsider who's been late four times this month. What do you ask him before anything is issued?
3. A written answer (up to 200 words): Our quarterly reviews lapsed because our founders couldn't keep up with them. How would you get reviews happening consistently across 60 staff without running them all yourself?
Applications without the snapshot and both answers won't be considered.
