Senior Automation Tester - Mobile & AI

Our client is a large values-focused Federal Government Agency seeking 6 x Senior Automation Testers (APS6 level) to support the delivery of mobile applications and emerging AI-enabled digital capabilities.

This is a hands-on technical testing role combining mobile automation, API testing, UI automation and AI testing. You'll work within multidisciplinary Agile teams to build scalable automation frameworks, improve test coverage and provide assurance across complex digital solutions. The role specifically combines mobile automation with testing AI-enabled functionality.

ROLE DETAILS:

Location: Richmond OR Geelong, VIC
Contract: 12 months initial term + 12-month extension option
Working arrangement: Hybrid - minimum 1 day per week in office
Security: Must be able to obtain Baseline clearance
Eligibility: Australian Citizen mandatory

ABOUT THE ROLE:

You'll develop and maintain automated testing across mobile and digital products, covering UI, APIs, integrations and AI-enabled functionality.

The role has a strong engineering focus: building reusable automation suites, integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines, validating REST APIs and working closely with developers, BAs and other delivery specialists to identify defects and improve software quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Build and maintain automated test frameworks for mobile applications.
- Deliver functional, integration, regression and end-to-end testing.
- Develop reusable automation suites across UI, APIs and mobile platforms.




- Test REST APIs and integrated Salesforce / MuleSoft solutions.
- Validate AI-enabled features, including reliability and consistency of generated outputs.
- Develop test scenarios covering expected behaviour, edge cases and failure conditions.
- Manage defects and work with development teams through resolution.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and contribute to ongoing QA improvement.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

- 5+ years' mobile application testing and test automation experience.
- Robust hands-on experience with Playwright and/or Selenium WebDriver, with Cucumber/BDD
- Mobile automation experience using Appium, Espresso, XCUITest or similar highly regarded.
- Strong REST API testing experience using Postman, including API automation.
- Experience testing Salesforce and MuleSoft
- Experience developing reusable automation frameworks and test suites.
- CI/CD experience using tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo and building automated test pipelines.
- Experience across functional, integration, regression and end-to-end testing.
- Experience testing AI-enabled applications or services, including validating AI-generated outputs.
- Strong Agile delivery, analytical and stakeholder communication skills.
