Experienced Disability Support Worker – Ringwood

K&S; Disability Care is seeking an experienced, confident and proactive Disability Support Worker to join our team providing 2:1 in-home support and respite care to a participant in the Ringwood area.

Applicants must have current Medication Administration/Medication Management competency and compliance, with the ability to safely follow medication procedures, documentation requirements and participant support plans.

This role requires someone who is calm, patient and highly attentive, with experience supporting people with complex support needs, behaviours of concern and sensory/environmental sensitivities. The participant requires workers who can recognise early signs of escalation, communicate calmly and provide consistent, person-centred support.

About the Role

The successful applicant will provide support within the participant's home and community. The role includes community access and daily activities, with 2:1 support required for community mobility and transport.

A key requirement of this role is the ability to follow strict environmental and chemical/scent restrictions. The participant has significant sensitivities to strong smells, including perfumes and fragrances, and requires a neutral environment. Workers must also be non-smokers and non-vapers, including ensuring vehicles used for support are free from smoke/vape exposure.

We're Looking for Someone Who Has:

- Previous Disability Support Worker experience – essential
n
- Experience supporting behaviours of concern and complex support needs
n
- Confidence working within a 2:1 support model
n
- Solid understanding of de-escalation and positive behaviour support strategies
n
- A calm, patient and consistent approach
n
- Ability to recognise changes in behavior, communication and emotional regulation
n
- Clear English communication skills, both verbal and written
n
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build genuine rapport
n
- Ability to follow detailed support plans, risk management strategies and professional guidance
n
- Willingness to comply with strict fragrance, chemical and environmental requirements
n
- Non-smoker and non-vaper
n
- Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to provide consistent support
n
- A strong commitment to person-centred, respectful and high-quality care
n

This role would suit an experienced worker who understands that successful complex support is built on consistency, patience, relationship-building and early intervention, rather than a reactive approach. The participant's support documentation specifically emphasises calm, clear communication, environmental regulation and early de-escalation.
