Job Description

As a Residential Youth Worker, you will provide day-to-day care and support to young people in a residential setting, helping them develop independent living and life skills while promoting positive routines, education, health, and wellbeing outcomes. You will manage behaviours using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches, complete case notes and incident reports, support young people to attend appointments and community engagements, work collaboratively with families and stakeholders, and maintain a safe and supportive home environment.

Key responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day care and support to young people in a residential setting
n
- Help young people develop independent living and life skills
n
- Promote positive routines, education, health, and wellbeing outcomes
n
- Manage behaviours using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches
n
- Complete case notes, incident reports, and other documentation
n
- Support young people to attend appointments, school, activities, and community engagements
n
- Work collaboratively with families, Child Safety, and other stakeholders
n
- Maintain a safe and supportive home environment
n

About you

- Remains calm and qualified in challenging situations
n
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
n
- Understands the impact of trauma on young people
n
- Can work independently and as part of a team
n
- Demonstrates reliability, accountability, and professionalism
n
- Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Community Services or a related field (or willingness to obtain)
n
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
n
- Valid Blue Card
n
- Current Queensland Driver Licence
n
- Ability to work a rotating roster including sleepovers, weekends, evenings, and public holidays
n
