Job Description
Smile IT is searching for an experienced and motivated Accountant to join our Finance team in our Tingalpa office.
n
The ideal candidate would be someone who prefers to work during school hours and is looking for a balanced position that keeps them actively involved and growing within their career.
n
Please note this is a part-time role (30 hours per week from 9:00am to 3:00pm).
n
About the Role:
n
As an Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial recording, reporting, and analysis to support the company's operational & strategic decision-making.
n
You will support in the management of core accounting functions including billing, revenue recognition, expense management, procurement reconciliation and month-end close.
n
Key Responsibilities:
n
n
- Accurately capture financial data and generate underlying financial records.
n
- Generate recurring and ad‐hoc revenue invoices, ensuring alignment with Service Agreements.
n
- Process and schedule supplier billing.
n
- Identify and proactively resolve data anomalies or inconsistencies.
n
- Reconcile bank accounts and assist with month end and year end close processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
n
- Assist in preparing monthly financial accounts, BAS, and supporting schedules.
n
- Maintain and contribute to improving finance processes, documentation and reporting.
n
- Support finance system integrations with PSA billing, and service management platforms (e.g. Xero, ConnectWise, Halo, SaaS Boss, OneBill).
n
- Assist with automation and efficiency initiatives across finance processes.
n
- Support financial end of year compliance by preparing schedules & responding to queries, ensuring adherence with tax regulations, payroll obligations, and statutory reporting requirements.
n
- Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls.
n
- Work with cross-functioning with various departments to validate billing, track costs, and maintain accurate system data.

Skills & Experience:
n
n
- 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.
n
- A relevant Bachelor's degree, CPA, Certificate IV or relevant (or working towards) tertiary course.
n
- Familiarity with Australian tax law and accounting regulations.
n
- Demonstrate high level of proficiency in recognised accounting software (e.g. Xero, HaloPSA).
n
- Excellent communication skills with solid attention to detail and organisational skills.
n
- Possess a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
n
- Ability to work independently and collaborate, working with cross-functions teams.
