Job Description

We're looking for a skilled Rigger / Welder to join our site installation crew. Working across industrial, commercial, and high-rise residential projects, you'll be responsible for the safe installation of structural steel and precast elements, while also carrying out site welding activities.

This role is split between rigging and welding duties and is ideal for someone who takes pride in working safely, accurately, and efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.

Rigging & Installation

n

n
- Rig and install structural steel members, including columns, beams, bracing, purlins, and precast concrete panels.
n
- Select, inspect, and safely use slings, shackles, chain blocks, spreader bars, and other lifting equipment.
n
- Work closely with crane operators and doggers, using approved hand signals and radio communications during lifting operations.
n
- Plumb, level, brace, and prop structural steel and precast elements in accordance with drawings and specified tolerances.
n
- Perform installation work from EWPs and at heights while maintaining compliance with site safety requirements.
n
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, lifting plans, and installation details.
n
- Assist with maintaining lifting gear registers and ensuring lifting equipment remains compliant and fit for purpose.

Welding

n

n
- Perform site welding using MMAW (Stick) and MIG processes on structural steel connections, cleats, brackets, base plates, embedded plates, and precast connection details.
n




- Complete welding in all positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical-up, and overhead.
n
- Undertake fillet welds and full or partial penetration butt welds in accordance with project specifications.
n
- Prepare joints through fit-up, tacking, grinding, and bevelling.
n
- Carry out oxy-acetylene cutting and grinding to modify and prepare steel on site.
n
- Conduct visual inspections of completed welds and rectify defects before handover for inspection.
n
- Work in accordance with approved welding procedures and quality requirements.
n
- Maintain welding equipment in a protected and operational condition.

What You'll Need

n

n
- Intermediate Rigging Licence (minimum requirement).
n
- White Card (mandatory).
n
- Demonstrated structural steel welding experience in a construction or installation environment.
n
- EWP Licence.
n
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport to travel between project sites.
n
- Experience across a range of projects, including industrial, commercial, and high-rise residential construction.
n
- Ability to work to programme deadlines on fast-paced construction sites.
n
- Strong understanding of site safety practices and risk management.
n
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within a team.
n
- Strong communication and time-management skills.
n

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

n

n
- Working at Heights certification.
n
- Trade qualification or recognised welding qualification.
n
- Dogging Licence.
n
- Additional rigging qualifications.
n
- Experience with precast concrete installation.
n
- First Aid certification.
n
