Pizza Chef - Portsea Hotel

Portsea Hotel is seeking an experienced and passionate Pizza Chef to join our kitchen team for the season. This is an exciting prospect to work in an iconic Mornington Peninsula venue, producing quality wood-fired pizzas in a fast-paced, high-volume coastal environment.

The Role

n

As Pizza Chef, you will take ownership of pizza preparation and service, ensuring every dish is produced efficiently, consistently and to the high standards Portsea Hotel is known for.

- Preparing, stretching and cooking pizzas to consistently high standards.
n
- Operating and maintaining the pizza section, including the wood-fired oven.
n
- Preparing mise en place and ensuring service readiness.
n
- Maintaining excellent food quality, presentation and portion control.
n
- Working efficiently during high-volume lunch and dinner services.
n
- Following food safety, hygiene and cleaning procedures.
n
- Supporting the wider kitchen team and contributing to a positive service environment.
n
- Assisting with stock control, ordering and minimising wastage.
n

About You

n

To be considered, you will ideally have:

n

n
- At least two years' experience in a similar pizza chef or chef role.
n
- Demonstrated experience working with wood-fired pizza ovens, dough preparation and pizza service.
n
- The ability to perform calmly and efficiently in a high-volume, high-pressure kitchen.
n
- A solid focus on quality, consistency and presentation.
n
- Excellent time-management and organisational skills.
n




- The ability to work independently while supporting the broader kitchen team.
n
- A willingness to learn, take direction and contribute to team goals.
n
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
n
- Must live locally on the Mornington Peninsula and have reliable personal transport, or be prepared to move into the area
