About the role

An exciting prospect has opened up for a Fibre Optic Technician to join a fast-moving and growing team working on the rollout and operation of a high-performance Dark Fibre Network across Sydney. This is a hands‐on, predominantly field‐based role covering fibre installation, splicing, testing, commissioning and fault finding.

Key responsibilities

- Single‐strand and mass ribbon fusion splicing
n
- Fibre cable preparation into ODFs and joint enclosures
n
- Installation of fibre termination panels and ODFs
n
- Dark fibre testing including OTDR, IL and CD/PMD
n
- Network commissioning and planned cuteovers
n
- Fault finding across dark and live fibre networks
n
- Cable hauling, patching and labelling
n
- Quality assurance and maintaining accurate as‐built documentation
n
- Project handovers
n
- Supervising internal crews and subcontractors when required
n

About you

n





n
- Experience in telecommunications or carrier networks highly regarded
n
- Experience with fibre, CAT or coax cabling
n
- Strong fault‐finding and testing capability
n
- Good understanding of WHS requirements
n
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
n
- Strong attention to quality and documentation
n
- Supervisory or QA experience would be highly regarded
n
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
n
- Current Australian driver's licence preferred
n
