About Us

Julatten Tavern is a country pub located in the small rural community of Julatten, between Mareeba and Port Douglas.

n

Under new ownership, we're bringing the Tavern back with a focus on great food, country hospitality and a relaxed local atmosphere.

n

Our menu is classic country pub food done well — large portion of menu focusing on quality steaks and pub favourites, alongside rotating specials.

n

We're looking for a reliable and capable Assistant Chef to join our kitchen team.

n

About the Role

n

Working alongside our team, you'll help with the preparation and delivery of lunch and dinner service and the day-to-day running of the kitchen.

n

You'll need to be confident working a busy service, following recipes and portion controls, maintaining consistency and jumping between different sections when required.

n

This is a hands‐on role in a small team, so everyone works together.

n

Key Responsibilities

- daily kitchen operations
n




- Prepare and cook meals during lunch and dinner service
n
- Work across grill, fryer, pans and prep
n
- Maintain a clean, organised kitchen
n
- Follow food safety and workplace hygiene requirements
n
- Work independently when required
n

About You

n

We're looking for someone who:

n

n
- Has previous experience working as a chef or experienced cook
n
- Is reliable, clean, organised and works well within a team
n
- Is available for weekends, evenings and public holidays
n
- Has a current Food Safety Certificate
n
- Has full Australian working rights
n

n

Formal chef qualifications is preferred , but practical experience, reliability and ability in the kitchen are equally significant to us.
