Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team and help deliver accurate, timely and high-quality payroll services to approximately 1,850 HCF employees. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you'll be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing across our fortnightly and monthly payrolls, while providing trusted advice and support to employees and key stakeholders.

What you'll do

n

- Process fortnightly and monthly payrolls accurately and within deadlines.
n
- Manage payroll queries and provide timely, high-quality customer service to employees.
n
- Prepare monthly payroll reports, reconciliations and support month-end and year-end processing.
n
- Manage PAYG, payroll tax and superannuation obligations.
n
- Process new starters, terminations, leave entitlements and superannuation choice funds.
n
- Interpret and apply relevant awards, EBAs and Australian payroll legislation.
n
- Resolve payroll issues, including overpayments and recovery processes.
n
- Liaise with the ATO and other relevant stakeholders when required.
n
- Work closely with People & Culture and HR Systems teams to maintain accurate employee information.
n
- Support payroll system changes, upgrades and implementations, including Preceda system administration.
n
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and ways of working.

What you'll bring

n

n
- 3–5 years' experience in an end-to-end payroll environment.
n
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and EBAs.
n
- Excellent customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
n
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to payroll accuracy.
n
- Intermediate Excel skills.
n
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
n
- Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.

- The ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
n
- Experience with Preceda or a similar payroll system is desirable.
n
