Our café services a regular customer base throughout the week and operates a busy commercial kitchen where efficient preparation, consistency, and attention to detail are essential.n

nOur kitchen produces a wide range of meals to meet customer demand across different service periods. We are committed to maintaining high standards in food preparation, presentation, hygiene, and food safety while providing customers with a consistent dining experience.n

nWe are seeking an experienced and skilled Chef to join our kitchen team on a full time basis. The successful candidate will have experience in a busy commercial kitchen and be confident preparing a range of dishes while maintaining consistent standards during busy service periods.n
n
nAbout the Rolen
n
nThe Chef will be responsible for planning, preparing, cooking, and presenting a range of meals in accordance with the café's menu, recipes, and quality standards. The role involves selecting and preparing ingredients, developing and modifying dishes where required, monitoring food quality and presentation, and ensuring that kitchen operations comply with food safety and hygiene requirements.n

nKey Responsibilitiesn
n
nPlan and prepare daily food requirements based on the café's menu, anticipated customer demand, and service requirements.n
nPrepare, season, cook, and present a variety of breakfast, brunch, lunch, and café-style dishes.n




nDevelop and refine recipes and menu items to maintain variety, quality, and consistency.n
nDetermine appropriate quantities of ingredients required for food preparation and service.n
nPrepare ingredients using appropriate techniques, including cutting, chopping, slicing, marinating, portioning, and other preparation methods.n
nCook food using a range of commercial cooking methods, including grilling, frying, baking, roasting, steaming, and sautéing.n
nMonitor the quality, taste, texture, temperature, and presentation of dishes throughout preparation and service.n
nEnsure meals are prepared and presented according to established recipes, portion requirements, and presentation standards.n
nInspect the quality and freshness of ingredients and ensure ingredients are stored appropriately before and after preparation.n
nAssist with planning ingredient requirements and communicate stock and supply needs to management.n
nAssist with ordering and receiving food supplies and ensure deliveries are checked and stored appropriately.n
nMonitor food usage and portion sizes to assist with controlling food costs and minimising wastage.n
nMaintain appropriate stock rotation and storage practices for perishable and non-perishable ingredients.n




nMaintain clean and hygienic food preparation areas, cooking equipment, utensils, and storage facilities.n
nEnsure food preparation and cooking practices comply with applicable food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.n
nCoordinate preparation of multiple dishes during busy service periods to ensure meals are completed within required service times.n
nWork collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure food preparation and service requirements are met efficiently.n

nSkills and Experiencen
n
nRelevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, such as Certificate III or IV, or equivalent relevant experience.n
nPrevious experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen, café, restaurant, or similar food service environment.n
nDemonstrated knowledge of a range of cooking methods, food preparation techniques, and kitchen practices.n
nExperience preparing and presenting a variety of meals to a consistent standard.n
nKnowledge of food safety, hygiene, storage, and temperature control requirements.n
nAbility to plan and organise food preparation according to menu and service requirements.n
nAbility to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods.n
nGood communication and teamwork skills.n
nStrong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation.n
nReliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.n
n

nSalaryn
n
n$77,000 – $80,000 per annum + superannuation, depending on experience and skills.
