About The Service

n

The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and you do not need an appointment, referral or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The new services in Devonport, Burnie and Outer Hobart are co-funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country. The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peer-integrated recovery and clinical support. The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to:

- Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department
n
- Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community, outside a clinical setting
n

- Based in Launceston, TAS

- Part time (4 days / wk), fixed-term contract until 23/07/2027

- HPSS Level 3 plus Super

Role Overview

n





Deliver high quality evidence based clinical care as a member of the multidisciplinary team to achieve better health outcomes for adults aged 18 years and over who experience mental health concerns and their families and carers.

n

- Conduct risk assessments, including assessment of suicide risk, violence/aggression and vulnerability and provide risk management in collaboration with the individual, their family/carers and other support systems with active engagement of appropriate referrals and treatment planning.
n

Requirements

n

n
- Must have one of the following: Full AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Nurse, General or Provisional AHPRA registration as a Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist, OR, AASW registration/eligibility as a Social Worker, OR, Level 2 ACA registration/eligibility.
n
- Knowledge & understanding of the theory underpinning evidence-based interventions & clinical practice as well as demonstrated excellence in the practical application of such, in the areas of mental health and alcohol and drug use.
n
- Highly developed communication (including written) and interpersonal skills
n
- The ability to engage with people, advocate on their behalf and establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, clients, families & friends and stakeholders.
n
- Experience in the use of electronic client/customer management systems, ability to use a desktop computer, and experience with Microsoft Office applications
n
- Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
n
- Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
n
