Our team includes NULCA-trained, CERTLOC-certified utility professionals operating within a Certified Locating Organisation (CLO). Using advanced technologies including Electromagnetic Locating (EML), Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), GNSS/GPS, total stations and survey processing software, we help clients reduce risk, improve safety and deliver projects with confidence.

The role offers exposure to major infrastructure, rail and utility projects and provides an opportunity to further develop your technical skills across utility locating, surveying and digital utility mapping disciplines.

About the Position:

n

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will work across the full utility investigation and survey workflow, from locating underground services through to spatial survey capture, processing, drafting and QA/QC of utility information.

n

This role is suited to an experienced utility professional who has developed capability beyond locating alone and can independently survey identified utilities using GNSS/GPS and total station equipment and process the resulting data using TBC, 12d and/or CAD software.

n

You will work closely with Utility Locators, Surveyors, project teams and specialist subcontractors to deliver accurate Subsurface Utility Information in accordance with AS 5488 and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

n

n
- Undertake underground utility investigations using EML, GPR and other approved locating methods
n
- Interpret BYDA plans, existing utility records and site information
n
- Identify, trace, mark and classify underground services in accordance with AS 5488
n
- Independently survey identified utilities using GNSS/GPS and total station equipment
n
- Capture utility positions, depths, levels, sizes, structures and relevant attributes
n
- Establish,



verify and maintain survey control where required
n
- Capture and record Quality Level A utility information during NDD/potholing verification
n
- Undertake utility, feature and detail survey activities where required
n
- Process and reduce utility and survey data using TBC, 12d and/or CAD software
n
- Prepare utility plans, as-built information and project deliverables
n
- Complete field and office QA/QC checks to ensure utility information is accurate, complete and traceable
n
- Maintain accurate field records, notes, photographs and supporting investigation information
n
- Coordinate with Utility Locators, Surveyors and specialist subcontractors including NDD, CCTV and traffic management providers where required
n
- Communicate utility findings, discrepancies and project risks clearly with project teams and clients
n
- Provide technical support and guidance to Trainee Utility Locators, Survey Technicians and Utility Locators where appropriate
n
- Demonstrated technical capability in utility locating using EML and GPR
n
- Strong understanding of underground utility infrastructure, BYDA information and AS 5488
n
- Competence using GNSS/GPS and total station equipment for utility survey capture
n
- Ability to establish and verify survey control appropriate to project requirements
n
- Experience processing and reducing survey and utility data using TBC, 12d and/or CAD software
n
- Ability to prepare accurate utility plans, as-built information and supporting project records
n
- Strong QA/QC, attention to detail and problem-solving capability
n
- Ability to independently manage field activities and work within multidisciplinary project teams
n




- Strong written and verbal communication skills
n

Qualifications:

n

n
- CERTLOC certification, or demonstrated equivalent utility locating competency with the ability to obtain CERTLOC
n
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
n
- White Card (Construction Induction)
n
- Surveying, Spatial Science or related qualification highly regarded
n
- First Aid training highly regarded
n

Desirable Experience & Accreditations:

- Rail Industry Worker (RIW) competencies
n
- Multi-channel array GPR systems and post-processing software
n
- Advanced TBC, 12d and/or CAD capability
n
- Feature and detail surveying experience
n
- Concrete scanning experience
n
- Laser scanning or reality capture experience
n
- Working with Children Check and/or Police Check
n
