Job Description
Registered Nurse Trainer & Assessor (Disability Support Services)

Path to Independence is currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Trainer and Assessor to join our team. This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $45-$55 per hour, a company fuel card for work-related travel, flexibility, and the opportunity to lead clinical training and competency development across our Supported Independent Living (SIL) services throughout Brisbane North and Southeast.

About the Role
n
This is a unique opportunity for a Registered Nurse with strong clinical and training experience to play a key role in developing and maintaining a skilled disability support workforce.
n
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering practical training, assessing competency, and signing off support workers and Team Leaders in a variety of standard and high-intensity support care plans across our SIL services.
n
You will also oversee training compliance, maintain training records,
and coordinate refresher training requirements.
n
As part of the role, you will also be expected to cover rostered shifts across our SIL services when required, providing direct clinical support and maintaining continuity of care.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Clinical Training & Competency Assessment
n
Deliver training, competency assessments, and sign-off for support workers in:
n
n
- Complex Bowel Care (including Enemas)
n
- Complex Wound Care
n
- Diabetes Management (non-injectable supports)
n
- Enteral Feeding and PEG Management
n
- Respiratory Observations and Inhaler Assistance
n
- Severe Dysphagia Management
n
- Stoma Care (Colostomy and Ileostomy)
n
- Subcutaneous Injections and Insulin Administration
n
- Tracheostomy Management
n
- Urinary Catheter Management
n
- Ventilation Management
n
n
Train-the-Trainer Program
n
n
- Train and assess Team Leaders to become internal workplace trainers.
n
- Complete and sign off Train-the-Trainer documentation.
n
- Ensure Team Leaders are competent to train support staff in standard care plans and organisational procedures.
n
n
Compliance & Administration
n
n
- Maintain training records and registers.
n
- Monitor and schedule refresher training requirements.
n
- Ensure training and competency documentation meets NDIS Practice Standards and organisational requirements.
n
- Use computer-based systems to record and track staff qualifications, training, and compliance.
n
n
About You
n
Essential Requirements
n
n
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
n
- Minimum 2 years' post-registration nursing experience.
n
- Demonstrated experience with complex health supports and clinical care.
n
- Experience delivering staff training, coaching, or competency assessments.
n
- Strong knowledge of NDIS High Intensity Daily Personal Activities supports.
n
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
n
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record keeping.
n
- Current National Police Check.
n
- Current NDS Worker Screening Clearance.
n
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification.
n
- Current Queensland Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle.
n

Desirable
n
n
- Previous experience within the disability, community, aged care, or SIL sector.
n
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) or willingness to obtain.
n
- Knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators.
n
n
Competitive pay rate of $45 - $55 per hour plus applicable penalties.
