South West Sport’s Every Role Counts project is funded through the Level the Field program, delivered by Leisure Networks in partnership with the Victorian Government. The project aims to strengthen inclusive volunteering pathways for people with disability by improving how community sport organisations design, promote, support and sustain volunteer roles.

Through evidence gathering, regional volunteer role mapping and co-design with people with disability, the project will identify barriers and opportunities across clubs, leagues and associations. These insights will be translated into practical capacity-building support, tested role-design approaches and clear regional guidance that can be applied across the community sport sector.

About the role

The Community Sport Inclusion Officer will lead the day-to-day implementation of the capacity-building and practice-change stages of Every Role Counts. Working under the direction of the Executive Officer, the role will translate the project's evidence base and co-design insights into practical action with community sport clubs, leagues and associations. The officer will build relationships across the region, support organisations to assess their readiness for inclusive volunteering, co-design and test more accessible volunteer roles and pathways, and capture the learning needed to strengthen inclusive practice across the sector. The role is both developmental and hands-on, requiring an ability to turn evidence into practical tools, tailored support and sustainable organisational change.

Key responsibilities

- Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of the implementation stages of Every Role Counts in line with the approved workplan, funding agreement, milestones and budget.
- Translate findings from the regional mapping, evaluation framework and co-design process into clear priorities and practical delivery activities.




- Maintain project schedules, stakeholder records, risk controls, activity data and documentation required for internal governance, funding reports and acquittal.
- Engage a representative mix of community sport clubs, leagues and associations across the five local government areas and multiple sports.
- Support participating organisations to understand their current volunteer workforce pressures, role demand, inclusion practices and readiness to engage volunteers with disability.
- Deliver tailored support, workshops and practical capacity-building activities that strengthen inclusive volunteer recruitment, role design, induction, support, retention and recognition.
- Work respectfully and collaboratively with the Lived Experience Advisory Group to ensure people with disability influence project design, delivery, testing and evaluation.
- Facilitate the co-design and testing of inclusive volunteer roles and pathways with selected community sport organisations and people with disability.
- Implement the agreed evaluation framework, including baseline, interim and end-of-project measures, milestone tracking and qualitative feedback.
- Represent South West Sport professionally at meetings, networks, workshops and community events.

About you

- Demonstrated experience in community development, community sport, volunteering, health promotion, social impact or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to work alongside community organisations to identify needs, build capability and support practical,



sustainable change.
- Sound understanding of disability inclusion, accessibility and co-design principles, including the importance of lived experience in shaping decisions and solutions.
- Strong relationship-building and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with people with disability, volunteers, community organisations, government and sector partners.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects, manage competing priorities, meet milestones and maintain accurate records in a small-team environment.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate groups, prepare transparent reports and translate complex information into practical guidance.
- Ability to collect, interpret and use quantitative and qualitative information to monitor progress, demonstrate outcomes and improve delivery.
- A current Victorian driver’s license and capacity to travel throughout South West Victoria are required.
- A current Working with Children Check is required.
