Independent Living Disability Support Worker

Independent Living Support Workers support neurodivergent participants in building skills, confidence, and independence in everyday life. Workers use explicit demonstration, structured routines, and supportive coaching to build capacity and teach practical skills. They provide support in five core areas:

Housekeeping and Organisation

n

Cooking

n

Public Transport

n

Transport support

n

Key Responsibilities Include:

Set and maintain clear professional boundaries.
n Problem solve independently and **escalate** as needed.
n Build rapport and collaborate with a wide range of individuals, including those with different beliefs or backgrounds.
n Assist with emotional regulation.
n Break down complex tasks and goals into small, achievable steps.
n Remain responsive to our admin team while working remotely.
n Maintain consistent availability to support predictable and sustainable support teams.
n Write clear and concise notes and reports to keep support teams informed.

Requirements

n

We encourage applications from those new to the industry or with minimal experience who are eager to grow and learn. These roles suit someone who is reliable, organised, and enjoys building meaningful relationships - strong mentors and role models with a passion for helping others overcome barriers, build capacity and achieve goals.

The Essentials:

n

n
- Minimum 15 hours of weekday availability per week. A valid Driver's License and Comprehensive Car Insurance. Access to a clean, reliable motor vehicle with working air conditioning. Be a safe, confident and responsible driver who follows all road rules and regulations. Current Blue Card or willingness to obtain a Blue Card. Current First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain. Ability to support others with gaining independence in daily living skills. Understanding of neurodiversity and positive values regarding people with disabilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
