A leading public sector organisation is embarking on a significant organisation-wide transformation that will reshape how it delivers services to the community.

Over the next four years, they're redesigning their operating model, modernising core business systems, implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Azure, and embedding new ways of working across the organisation.

To support this journey, they're seeking a Test Lead to build and run a hands‑on testing function across their Business Transformation Program - someone who can develop a testing strategy from the ground up and roll up their sleeves to help execute it.

The Prospect

Reporting into the program leadership team, you'll design and implement the testing strategy, standards and governance approach required to validate business‑critical solutions before go‑live, working closely with the Business Analysis function and wider program team.

This is a genuinely hands‑on role. You'll be building the testing framework from scratch and getting directly involved in test execution, while leading and developing two Test Analysts as testing activity ramps up.

Strong ERP testing experience is essential, ideally within Microsoft Dynamics 365, though candidates with equivalent ERP platform experience are encouraged to apply.

This is a senior testing position within the four‑year Business Transformation Program, based in Melbourne's Northern suburbs (hybrid working — minimum 3 days onsite).

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement the testing strategy,



standards and governance approach for the Business Transformation Program from the ground up
- Take a hands‑on role in test planning, design and execution, including system integration, UAT, regression and data migration testing
- Ensure Quality Assurance activity is embedded ahead of User Acceptance Testing, with a clear understanding of how the two disciplines interrelate
- Manage defects end-to-end, including triage, prioritisation, resolution tracking and escalation
- Identify and assess testing risks, providing clear recommendations on release readiness
- Mentor and develop a Test Analyst, building testing capability as the function grows
- Build strong working relationships with business stakeholders, project teams and vendors to coordinate testing activity and resolve issues

About You

You're a hands‑on testing professional who's comfortable building a testing function from scratch rather than stepping into an established one.

You’ll bring:

- Solid experience leading or playing a senior hands‑on role within a testing function, ideally within enterprise systems, ERP, digital or technology transformation programs
- Strong ERP testing experience, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 highly regarded
- Confident understanding of QA and UAT disciplines, and how they work together across a release cycle
- Strong defect management and risk assessment experience
- A good understanding of the Local Government / Council environment (highly desirable)
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the motivation and initiative to build something from the ground up
- Experience mentoring or developing junior testing resources
