Redemptorists
Melbourne
The Redemptorists are a not-for-profit organisation who have been serving the Australian community since 1883, offering compassionate support to people of all walks of life.
We are a religious congregation of priests and brothers within the Catholic Church who live in community for the sake of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially among people on the margins of society and church. Founded in southern Italy in 1732 by St Alphonsus Liguori, we are in a majority of countries across the world and also known as The Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.
As a Catholic missionary, values-driven organisation, focused on partnering with laity, all roles contribute to the mission.
The Redemptorist Kew Formation House is comprised of professed students, deacons, priests, mission partners and staff who are inspired to live and share St Alphonsus’ charism of bringing God’s Good News to the neglected and the poor. We even have a community library specialising in Moral Theology and Social Justice. Our house of studies is where Redemptorists continue their formation for Apostolic Life in the twenty-first century. Like all Redemptorist houses, the Formation House is also a house of outreach. Our students spare time is spent gaining experience in pastoral ministries at different parishes and Redemptorist missions. Outreach is not confined to the students. The whole community reaches out by way of pastoral care for local people in nursing homes, hospitals and by providing Eucharist, sacraments and pastoral support for those in need.
