We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. The Role

Education

n

Assistants - Special Needs are responsible for assisting teachers with preparing resources and programs that meet the learning needs of students with disabilities and learning difficulties, and to encourage these students to reach their individual goals. They should provide effective feedback when required on education and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of student's individual goals.

Applicants may also be required to support students in the workplace and in the community (e.g. Travel Training). Suitable applicants should display skill in the use of Information Technology (IT) to assist teachers and students if required. In addition, applicants will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with teachers to create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of the students.

You will ideally be organised and able to use your initiative to assist the teacher with the general care and well-being of students and maintenance of the learning setting. It is desirable that staff hold or be willing to be trained in First Aid.

Eligibility

All candidates must meet the following requirements:

- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
n
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
