The key duties of the position include:

n

AHL is seeking a Cook to join the team at Durungaling Hostel, Newcastle.

n

The position is part-time, working weekdays only from 11:30am - 6:30pm.

n

What We're Looking for in a Cook:

n

n
- Experience in meal preparation in an industry-based environment, ensuring the safe production of quality food without compromise to Food Safety Standards Australia.
n
- Experience in commercial cookery, and the ability to manage stock rotation while ensuring timely service and hygiene of cooking equipment.
n
- Good understanding of cleanliness and health standards required whilst preparing food at the workstation.

Key Responsibilities

n

In line with APS 2 work level standards, you will be responsible for:

n

n
- Maintaining a high level of customer service to all residents.
n




- performing all duties in a manner which upholds AHL's commitment to safety for staff and residents and adhere to Work Health and Safety (WHS) practices as all times.
n
- Assisting the hostel team with general duties as required.
n

- prepare and deliver high-quality meal services aligned with AHL set menus and national Food Safety Standards.
n
- Manage kitchen inventory and maintain a high standard of presentation and hygienic practices in the dining spaces.

Eligibility

n

Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. At AHL to be eligible for this position you should be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application, unless exceptional circumstances apply.

The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, prior to engagement:

- Provide an Australian Citizenship document (e.g. birth certificate or passport)
n
- Undergo a satisfactory National Criminal History Check;
n
- Meet the fitness for duty requirements; and
n
- Hold and maintain, working with children check in NSW.
