If you enjoy solving problems, working with people and getting to the bottom of things, this role could be for you. You’ll investigate planning and compliance matters, undertake site inspections and work with property owners and developers to achieve practical outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

- Investigate alleged breaches of planning legislation, Council By-Laws, permits and approvals.
- Conduct site inspections and gather, assess and maintain evidence to support compliance outcomes.
- Work with property owners, developers and other stakeholders to resolve compliance matters through education, negotiation and enforcement.
- Prepare clear reports, correspondence, infringement notices and documentation for enforcement action, including tribunal or court matters where required.
- Provide specialist advice to Council officers on planning compliance, legislation and enforcement requirements.
- Work with internal teams, government agencies and legal representatives to achieve fair, effective and timely outcomes.

What you’ll bring

- Relevant qualifications and/or experience in investigations, compliance, planning, building or a related regulatory field.




- Experience undertaking regulatory investigations and applying legislation to compliance and enforcement matters.
- Solid communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the confidence to manage difficult or sensitive situations.
- Strong written, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet statutory timeframes.
- A commitment to professional customer service and a current Class C Driver Licence.
- National police check certificate dated within 6 months.
