Position Description

The Laboratory Technician provides technical support to the Science Department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and well-resourced delivery of practical science lessons across Years 7-12. The role involves preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment and materials, managing chemical and biological stock, and supporting compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements in all science learning spaces.

- Relevant qualification in Laboratory Technology, Science, or a related field (e.g. Certificate III/IV in Laboratory Skills) or equivalent experience.




- Current NSW Working With Children's Check
- Demonstrated understanding of laboratory safety practices and chemical handling procedures.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities across multiple year levels and subjects.
- Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with teaching staff and students.
- Basic computer literacy (inventory systems, email, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace).
- Sound knowledge of secondary school Science curriculum requirements.
- Experience working in a school laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of relevant state WHS legislation and Safe Work Australia guidelines.
