Bike-ology is one of Arc's sustainability student programs dedicated to making cycling more accessible, affordable, and fun for the UNSW community. Through weekly workshops, Bike-ology helps students learn how to repair, maintain, and ride their bikes safely - all while promoting sustainable, active transport and reducing reliance on cars and public transport.

As the Bike-ology Officer, you'll be hands-on in running the program. You'll facilitate and support weekly bike workshops, assist participants in maintaining and repairing their bikes, oversee volunteers, and ensure the workshop space is safe, organised, and well-stocked. You'll also help grow the program's reach by developing partnerships, running promotional activities, and collaborating with other Arc programs.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

- Facilitate weekly workshops, supporting students and volunteers to learn bike repair and maintenance.
- Keep the workshop space, tools, and equipment safe, functional, and ready for use.
- Assist in the operations of the program by supporting the development of term plans, timelines, rosters and other behind-the-scenes logistics
- Recruit, coordinate and support a team of volunteers, building a positive and passionate community
- Keep things organised by tracking volunteer hours and metrics, supporting AHEGS eligibility and program growth
- Complete key admin tasks like risk assessments and safety briefings and other ad-hoc administration

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

SELECTION CRITERIA

- A UNSW student in 2027
- A genuine interest in the goals of the program and a passion for getting others involved
- An understanding of the diverse needs and experiences of UNSW students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid organisation and time management skills
- Comfortable working under pressure and adapting when things change

DESIRABLE

- Bike maintenance or repair knowledge
- Customer service experience in a dynamic work environment.
- Leadership or peer support experience.
