Year 7 & 8 English Tutor – Education Students Welcome

Pre-Uni New College Oakleigh is seeking a dedicated Year 7 & 8 English Tutor to join our tutoring team on a casual basis . This is an excellent opportunity for education students, graduates, or experienced educators to gain valuable tutoring experience whilst supporting students in their English studies. Based in Oakleigh VIC 3166 , this role offers flexibility and the chance to make a real difference in young learners' academic development. Whether you are building your teaching portfolio or transitioning into the education sector, this position provides meaningful work in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

- Deliver engaging and tailored English tuition to Year 7 and Year 8 students, focusing on literacy, comprehension, writing and communication skills
- Assess student progress and identify areas requiring additional support or challenge
- Provide constructive feedback to students on their written work.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic achievements
- Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive learning setting
- Adapt teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles and abilities

What we’re looking for

- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a teaching degree, education qualification, or equivalent tertiary qualification
- Strong knowledge of English language, literature and grammar at secondary level




- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to explain concepts clearly and engage young learners
- Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting student learning
- Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one
- Experience working with secondary students is preferred but not essential
- Familiarity with the Victorian curriculum is advantageous
