An opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Lawyer to join the Legal Services Unit, delivering trusted, independent and strategic legal advice across a diverse range of contractual and commercial matters within Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

About the opportunity

To assist in ensuring the provision of an effective legal service to Townsville Hospital and Health Service making the best use of external and internal legal services, and to fulfil the role of a Departmental / Health Service legal adviser in a complex portfolio.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

- Demonstrated ability to undertake high level contractual drafting.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level legal advice on a wide range of commercial matters and the capacity to apply that advice to the health portfolio, particularly in the areas of health, medical research, employment, joint appointments, funding agreements and lease arrangements.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively consult and communicate with clients, including highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Actively participate in a working workplace supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.

Role requirements

- Possess a degree in Law and admission or eligibility for immediate admission to practice as a solicitor or barrister in the Supreme Court of Queensland and enrolment or eligibility for enrolment, to practice in the High Court of Australia.
