Therapeutic Supervisor | Out of Home Care

Lead therapeutic practice and support frontline teams to improve outcomes for children and young people in care. You will hold practice standards across Individual Placement Arrangements (IPA) and lead the Therapeutic Care Workers (TCWs) delivering care in them. The role is built so you spend your week in the houses, not at a desk. A dedicated offshore Therapeutic Supervisor runs the scheduled cycle behind you: supervision scheduling, incident review summaries, wellbeing and development surveys, audit cycles and the supervision, audit and corrective action registers. That work reaches you as a single weekly position report, already analysed. You direct that queue, set its priorities each week, and act on what it shows.

You will hold a portfolio of 36 homes. Sydney placements are inspected monthly and regional placements bi monthly, so expect to be on the road a meaningful part of each week, using your own vehicle with reimbursement. The role is based at Bella Vista and is office based for the first three months while you learn the model, then moves to three days in the office and two from home. If you bring strong sector experience and need a different arrangement, we are open to a conversation.

Key responsibilities

- Face to face supervision, coaching and reflective practice with TCWs, including post incident debriefs, performance conversations and high acuity matters
- Routine and responsive visits to IPA homes to observe quality of care and embed therapeutic practice in daily routines
- Safeguarding decisions, reportable conduct, mandatory reporting and statutory notifications
- The relationship with the regulator,

referring agencies, carers and families
- The practice standard itself: templates, audit thresholds, escalation points, and sign off on corrective actions
- Alignment of staff practice to care plans, behaviour support plans, risk management plans and cultural support plans
- Restrictive practice review, and escalation of practice concerns and risks
- Direction and weekly prioritisation of the offshore supervisor's work queue
- Onboarding and ongoing development of new Therapeutic Care Workers

About you

- A qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Community Services, Youth Work or a related discipline
- Experience in Out of Home Care supporting children and young people with complex trauma and complex needs
- Experience supervising, coaching or mentoring frontline staff
- Working knowledge of trauma informed care, attachment, emotional regulation and positive behaviour support
- Working knowledge of NSW child protection legislation, mandatory reporting and child protected practices
- Sound written communication and documentation discipline, and the judgement to know what must be escalated the same day
- A current NSW Working With Children Check, National Police Check and driver licence, with willingness to travel regularly between IPA homes
