PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER ROLE DESCRIPTION

Our Lady of the Way Catholic Primary School is a P-6 School in Wallan East. We are an established school with contemporary facilities which has developed an excellent reputation as a welcoming community providing quality education within a Catholic school context. We are committed to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children in our care.

The Primary Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating a high-quality, engaging and inclusive Physical Education program across Foundation to Year 6. The role supports students to develop physical literacy, confidence, teamwork, resilience and positive attitudes towards lifelong participation in physical activity.

The successful applicant will contribute positively to the school's Catholic identity and culture and work collaboratively with colleagues to support the academic, physical, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of every student.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must:

- understand and support the Catholic ethos and vision of the School, and be willing to be involved in School and Parish activities
- display a love of learning and a passion for working with young children
- possess VIT registration
- be accredited to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school (or be in the process of obtaining this)
- be familiar and comply with all requirements of Child Safety, policies and legal responsibilities concerning the safety,



care and wellbeing of all students.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The successful applicant will be required to:

- work as an active, positive and supportive staff member who is committed to the ethos and values of Catholic education
- work collegially with all staff
- commit to and abide by the Child Safety Standards, Child Safety Policy and Child Safety protocols
- coordinate and manage all related compliance procedures associated with Physical Education and Sport
- build positive relationships with children, parents and staff
- promote positive student behaviour
- cater effectively for the diverse individual needs of students
- create a learning environment where all are valued and challenged
- commit to professional learning and improvement
- plan and teach Physical Education from the Victorian Curriculum to children from Foundation - Year 6
- assess and report against the Victorian Curriculum to demonstrate student growth
- support and help lead the annual sporting carnivals and events
- coordinate and manage School Sports Victoria Interschool Swimming, Cross-Country and Athletics participation
- coordinate and manage Year 6 Interschool Sporting fixtures
- coordinate sport across the school
- support school events
