Painter – Full-Time

Raja’s Painting and Decorating Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and skilled Painter to join its Melbourne-based team on a full-time, ongoing basis. Location: Cranbourne, Victoria, work across metropolitan Melbourne

Employment type: Full-time, ongoing Hours: 38 hours per week Salary: $80,000 per annum plus superannuation

About the role

This is a full-time, ongoing position for a skilled Painter who takes pride in high-quality residential and commercial painting, decorating and surface-preparation work. The successful applicant will prepare and finish a range of interior and exterior building surfaces while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and client service.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, stripping existing finishes, filling holes and cracks, and completing repair work before coating application.
- Apply primers, sealers, undercoats and finishing coats to achieve durable, high-quality outcomes.
- Apply paint, varnish, stains and other finishes using brushes, rollers and spray-painting equipment.
- Mix and match paints, colours and finishes to meet project specifications.
- Measure and calculate surface areas and determine material quantities required for each project.
- Protect adjacent surfaces, fixtures, flooring and furnishings before commencing work.
- Prepare and finish interior and exterior walls, ceilings, doors, trims and other building surfaces.
- Apply decorative and specialist finishes where required by project specifications.
- Read and interpret plans, colour schedules, specifications and job requirements.
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe, clean and serviceable condition.




- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, including secure use of ladders, scaffolding, spray equipment, paints, solvents and personal protective equipment.

About you

- Relevant qualification in Painting and Decorating, or equivalent demonstrated trade experience. At least one year of relevant painting and decorating experience, preferably across residential and/or commercial projects.
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation, painting methods, coatings and professional finishing techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to use brushes, rollers and spray-painting equipment confidently.
- Experience applying a variety of paints, coatings, varnishes, stains and decorative finishes.
- Ability to interpret job specifications and select appropriate materials and preparation methods.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Sound communication, time-management and organisational skills.
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Current driver licence preferred.
