About the position

The EAL Teacher is responsible for preparing and delivering classes focused on English as an Additional Language qualification. The duties include planning, preparation of teaching and learning resources, and assessment. Reporting to the specific program Training Manager, the EAL Teacher will deliver a range of teaching services, and ensure that students are provided with the relevant support to enhance their learning experience and achievements, while maintaining compliance requirements and completion of administrative tasks.

These are fixed term sessional and casual teaching positions available with the possibility to negotiate for full time or part time hours.This position is primarily based in St Albans and Keilor Downs, however, may be required to work at our other Community Education sites.

A range of positions are currently available across our Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), Skills for Education and Employment (SEE),



Skills First Program, and Employability Skills Training (EST) programs.

Key Selection Criteria

- TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or
- TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus the following units:
- TAELLN411 (or its successor) or TAELLN401A, and
- TAEASS502 (or its successor) or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502Bor

- A diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education.

And one of the following with each including a 22- day supervised teaching practicum in TESOL:

- A four-year Bachelor of Education, with TESOL as a method
- A bachelor’s degree plus a Master of Teaching with TESOL as a method
- A bachelor’s degree plus Graduate Diploma of Education with TESOL as a method
- An undergraduate bachelor’s degree plus a postgraduate TESOL qualification at AQF 8 or above that includes a 22- day supervised teaching practicum in TESOL with an average of 2-3 hours teaching and observation each day , such as a:
- Graduate Certificate in Education (TESOL)
- Graduate Certificate in TESOL
- Graduate Diploma in TESOL
- Graduate Diploma of Education with a TESOL method
- Master of TESOL/Master of Applied Linguistics/Master of Arts (TESOL)

- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of the English as an Additional Language (EAL) Framework and the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)
- Demonstrated understanding of relevant guidelines and standards including the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) Guidelines for VET Providers and Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF)
- Highly developed and proficient teaching and assessing skills,



including experience in client assessment, moderation, and validation.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering learning to students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including clients with learning barriers at all levels.
- High level of verbal and written communication skills in English and proficiency in digital literacy and technology.
- Strong organisational and planning skills with high level of attention to detail, including self and time management skills.
- Preferably some experience and knowledge in conducting and reporting Pre-Training Assessments.
- Teaching experience, with demonstrated ability to implement best practice in the delivery of nationally recognised training and assessment would be advantageous.

A current Driver’s License and the ability to travel between offices and outreach locations is essential for this role. Additionally, a Working with Children Check and National Police Check with ongoing validity are mandatory for this role.
