We are currently seeking a full-time temporary staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.

The role

Reporting to the Neighbourhood House Unit Coordinator, the successful applicant will:

- Lead the activation of Sydenham Neighbourhood House by developing a diverse schedule of programs, activities, events and community uses.
- Develop and coordinate contemporary youth programs that respond to the interests, strengths and needs of local young people.
- Engage young people in the planning, design, delivery and evaluation of programs, activities and events.
- Build partnerships with local schools, youth services, education providers, community organisations and Council teams to increase opportunities for young people.
- Lead outreach activities to promote Neighbourhood House Unit initiatives and encourage participation,



particularly among young people and community members who may experience barriers to accessing programs and services.
- Supervise, manage and support community centre employees across two sites, as well as volunteers and casual employees, to develop capable and high-performing teams.
- Develop and coordinate a strategic schedule of high-quality programs and activities that support community learning, participation and belonging.

To be considered you will have:

- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in contemporary community development practice andactivating community facilities and developing programs that increase community participation.
- Knowledge of contemporary youth engagement, youth participation or community development practices and experience engaging young people and involving them in the design and delivery of programs, activities or events.
- The ability to develop inclusive, accessible and relevant programs for young people and community members from diverse backgrounds.
- A tertiary qualification in community development, youth work or a related discipline, and/or relevant experience at a senior level.
- Demonstrated experience supervising and managing employees, volunteers and casual staff, as well as managing community facilities and assets.




- Demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse communities and people with a range of needs.
- Strong partnership development and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to plan, deliver, evaluate and report on community programs, projects and events.
- The ability to work effectively across multiple sites and respond flexibly to operational requirements.
- Experience working in local government is desirable.
