Job Description

About the role An excellent opportunity for an experienced Farm or Orchard Manager to take ownership of a well-established almond orchard near Hillston, NSW. Leading an experienced on-farm team, you’ll be responsible for the overall performance of the orchard, including people, planning, day-to-day operations and asset management. Almond experience would be highly regarded; however, experienced managers from other tree crop operations, including citrus, avocado and stone fruit, are also encouraged to apply.

Duties

- Take overall responsibility for orchard performance, productivity, costs and reporting
- Lead and develop an established team across irrigation, maintenance and orchard operations
- Plan and coordinate activities across the full seasonal orchard calendar
- Manage labour, machinery, equipment and operational resources
- Oversee irrigation, orchard health, pest and disease management
- Manage farm infrastructure, assets and preventative maintenance programs
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers and other key stakeholders
- Maintain strong safety, operational and performance standards across the orchard

Skills & experience

- Minimum 5 years' experience across farm operations and management
- Experience within almonds or other permanent/tree crops such as vineyards, citrus, stone fruit or avocado highly regarded




- Proven people leadership skills with the ability to set expectations, develop teams and maintain standards
- Strong operational planning and organisational capability
- Financial literacy, including budgeting, cost management and reporting
- Sound understanding of WHS, farm safety and compliance requirements
- Strong computer literacy, record keeping and reporting skills
- Horticulture qualifications desirable but not essential
