About the role

As a Health and Security Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting the safety, security and smooth operation of the hospital. Working alongside clinical and support teams, you’ll provide a visible security presence while assisting with patient transfers, equipment movement and general patient care as directed.

Your responsibilities will include responding to alarms and security incidents, managing challenging behaviours and duress situations, conducting internal and external patrols, identifying and reporting security risks, and supporting patient flow throughout the hospital.

You’ll also help maintain a protected healthcare environment by following infection control, environmental cleaning, work health and safety and manual handling requirements.

This is a 7-day rotating roster, including morning, afternoon and night shifts, weekends and public and school holidays. The role may also involve working in a morgue environment.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is calm under pressure, reliable and genuinely committed to helping others. You’ll be confident responding to challenging situations, able to follow procedures and directions, and comfortable working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

You will bring:

- A current NSW Class 1A Security Licence (SLED)
- A current Senior First Aid Certificate
- A current,



valid driver licence
- The ability to manage aggressive incidents, challenging behaviours and duress situations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work effectively with patients, visitors and staff
- An understanding of infection control, environmental cleaning, WHS and secure manual handling
- Flexibility to work a rotating 7-day roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays
- A professional and ethical approach, with a strong commitment to patient confidentiality
- A willingness to work in a hospital environment, including the morgue
