- Processing weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments
- Calculating wages, salaries, allowances, deductions, leave entitlements and superannuation contributions
- Maintaining accurate payroll records and employee files in compliance with legislative requirements
- Preparing and lodging payroll tax returns, superannuation and other statutory obligations
- Managing employee leave records, including annual leave, sick leave and long service leave
- Reconciling payroll accounts and identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Processing employee terminations, final pay and related documentation
- Liaising with external payroll service providers, accountants and tax authorities as required
- Providing payroll reports to management and finance teams
- Ensuring compliance with Fair Work Act requirements and award conditions
- Responding to employee payroll enquiries in a professional and timely manner
What we're looking for
- Proven experience working in a payroll function, ideally within an accounting or finance department
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, tax compliance and superannuation requirements
- Proficiency with payroll software systems and general accounting packages
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills,
particularly for data analysis and reconciliation
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks accurately
- Understanding of the Fair Work Act and modern award conditions
- Solid communication skills and ability to handle sensitive employee information with confidentiality
- Relevant accounting qualifications such as CPA, CA or Diploma in Payroll Management are advantageous
- Ability to work independently whilst being part of a collaborative finance team
- Commitment to maintaining accuracy and meeting tight payroll deadlines
