OVERVIEW Deakin University is seeking a Global Learning Lead (Outbound and Funding) to lead the delivery and continuous improvement of its outbound global learning portfolio. The role oversees short-term, semester-based, and Global Citizenship programs while managing operational, compliance, and strategic challenges related to outbound mobility and funding administration. This position works closely with internal and external stakeholders to enhance student participation and experience in global learning opportunities. The role also leads the outbound mobility team and supports service delivery across global learning programs, including management of day-to-day escalations. Deakin is looking for a collaborative and skilled communicator with a strong passion for international education and student mobility.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of outbound global learning programs
- Manage operational, compliance, and strategic challenges related to learning abroad and mobility funding administration
- Support the development, funding, and delivery of global learning opportunities
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Global Learning, Deakin International colleagues, faculties, Work Integrated Learning (WIL) teams, academic and professional staff, and external partners
- Lead the outbound mobility team and oversee service delivery across global learning programs
- Manage day-to-day escalations within the outbound mobility portfolio
- Analyse complex issues and negotiate effective solutions with stakeholders
- Lead initiatives and drive improvement in processes and practices

- Provide expert advice aligned to organisational priorities, policies, and stakeholder needs
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture through coaching, development, and leadership
- Apply innovation and learning to improve outcomes, services, and work practices

Requirements

- Postgraduate qualifications or extensive relevant experience and management expertise
- Demonstrated experience and ability to lead complex international education programs and partnerships
- Demonstrated ability to build team-oriented partnerships and influence a broad range of stakeholders
- Proven leadership capability in team development
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic capability
- Sound knowledge of the student mobility sector and relevant legislation, policies, and funding frameworks
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Passion for global learning and working with people
- Ability to work effectively in a agile team environment
