Nowra East Public School (NEPS) is a Connected Communities school located on the South Coast of New South Wales. We collaborate closely with our community to provide teaching and learning opportunities within a nurturing and inclusive environment. Our diverse student population of approximately 480 includes 53% Aboriginal students. We are committed to supporting students’ ongoing growth in cultural identity, wellbeing, literacy, and numeracy.

NEPS comprises seventeen regular classes, seven support classes, and a NSW Department of Education preschool, which received an ‘Exceeding’ rating from ACECQA in 2025. We work in partnership with a School Reference Group, Senior Leader Community Engagement, three Aboriginal Educational Officers, the Aboriginal community, and the Nowra Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group to promote cultural understanding and connection to Country.

Our school focuses on excellence in education with a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy. All staff engage in continuous professional learning informed by current evidence-based pedagogy. Students, families, and staff collaboratively develop personalised learning pathways, fostering shared ownership of student goals.

Connected Communities is a strategy to drive improved educational outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people. Specific Selection Criteria

- Approval to teach K to 6 with demonstrated ability to use evidence informed practices and student data to deliver differentiated, high quality, explicit literacy and numeracy programs.
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain positive, inclusive and engaging learning environments through effective classroom management,



evidence-informed wellbeing practices and high expectations for student learning and behaviour.
- Highly developed communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work as part of a team, and establish effective partnerships with students, staff and families.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Aboriginal Education, including the ability to build positive connections with Aboriginal students, families and staff.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
