Private Executive Housekeeper/Property Care & Oversight

An exceptional opportunity is available for an experienced and professional Executive Housekeeper to join the private household of a retired couple in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs.

The principals divide their time between their Darling Point residence, their country property and overseas, spending approximately six months at varied times, each year in Sydney.

This is a long-term position for a discreet, trustworthy and meticulous housekeeper who takes genuine pride in caring for a beautiful private home.

The successful candidate will work approximately two days per week throughout the year, including periods when the principals are travelling.

During extended periods of absence, the successful candidate, and where applicable their partner, will have the opportunity to reside in the beautiful home to oversee the property and care for the principals' two much-loved cats.

The Residence

An elegant, private heritage-listed residence is maintained to a very high standard.



The home is occupied by the principals and their two cats, with guest areas used only occasionally.

The Position

The role encompasses high-standard housekeeping, household care and property oversight, with the successful candidate taking responsibility for ensuring the home is maintained, organised and beautifully presented.

The position requires someone who is very mature, highly capable of working independently, flexibility in their living circumstances, has excellent attention to detail, and understands the discretion and standards expected when working within a private household.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain the residence to an exceptional standard through regular housekeeping and detailed cleaning

- Laundry, ironing and wardrobe care

- Care and maintenance of fine furnishings, antiques and silver

- Care for the principals' two cats during periods of travel and weekends away

- Liaise with and coordinate tradespeople and household service providers

- Arrange and oversee household maintenance as required

- Complete occasional grocery shopping and household errands

- Collect mail and receive deliveries during the principals' absence

- Conduct routine property and security checks while the principals are away

- Monitor the swimming pool and arrange servicing or maintenance as required

- Conduct property inspections following severe weather events

- Prepare occasional straightforward meals if required, desirable but not essential

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will ideally have:





- Previous experience working within private homes for high-net-worth or discerning families

- Exceptional housekeeping standards and meticulous attention to detail

- Absolute honesty, discretion and integrity

- A warm and caring nature, particularly towards animals and cats

- Strong organisational and time management skills

- The ability to work independently and take initiative

- Confidence liaising with tradespeople and external service providers

- Excellent communication skills and a professional manner

- Flexibility to reside in the property during extended periods of the principals' travel

- A genuine interest in establishing a long-term relationship with the household

Essential Requirements

- Previous professional housekeeping experience within a private household

- Three strong professional references

- Current driver's licence

- Reliable vehicle

- Willingness to undergo a National Police Check

- Flexibility to house sit and reside in the property during extended periods of the principals' absence

- Genuine commitment to a long-term position

The Ideal Candidate

This role will suit a mature, experienced and dependable Housekeeper who understands that working within a private household is built on trust, discretion, consistency and attention to detail .

Please note this role would best suit candidates open to residing in the home when the principals are away, on and off during the year, not all in one 6 month period, so living in a suitable distance to the residence would be ideal.

The successful candidate will take genuine pride in their work, be comfortable caring for the home independently and enjoy becoming a trusted and valued member of the household over the long term.
