Financial Accountant | Fixed-Term 12 Month Paternity Leave Contract

We're looking for a Financial Accountant to join our finance team at our Silverwater head office on a 12-month fixed-term contract, covering parental leave. This is a great opportunity for someone with a sharp eye for detail and a genuine interest in hospitality or catering finance, who enjoys being the go-to person for their cost centres and takes pride in getting the numbers right.

About the Role

As our Financial Accountant, you'll manage financial records, prepare accurate and timely reporting, and help ensure Gema Group stays compliant with accounting standards and regulations. You'll be the main point of contact for finance matters across your assigned cost centres, so strong communication and a collaborative approach are just as important as technical accuracy.

What You'll Be Doing

- Preparing and analysing financial statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss reports
- Preparing statutory returns (FBT, GST, ABS and similar)
- Preparing and reviewing venue and event commission reports
- Reconciling bank statements, accounts payable/receivable,



and other balance sheet ledgers — and investigating and resolving any discrepancies
- Assisting with budget preparation and forecasting, and monitoring performance against budget
- Supporting internal and external audits and helping implement recommendations
- Maintaining accurate financial records using our accounting software and systems
- Conducting financial analysis to support decision-making and reporting to management
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and adopting best practice
- Adhering to ISO standards and Gema's IMS policies across safety, quality, and environment

What You'll Bring

- Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or in a similar role, experience in catering or hospitality is a bonus
- Robust attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Confidence with accounting software and Microsoft Excel, plus experience in financial reporting and reconciliation
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) is highly regarded
