Boronia Park Public School is situated in Hunters Hill and has a population of 386 students. Approximately 29% of our students are from a non-English speaking background and less than 1% of students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. The school is focused on teaching effective and dynamic literacy and numeracy programs. Our school expectations are based around the student code of conduct as the values of friendship, harmony, cooperation and respect.

The teacher librarian plays a valuable role in curriculum delivery while maintaining our library as an important hub for reading, learning and connection. Our extensive collection of quality literature and learning resources sits alongside technology. All classes participate in weekly lessons, while whole-school initiatives including Book Week, author visits, book fairs, the Premier's Reading Challenge, National Simultaneous Storytime and student library monitors promote a strong love of literature across the school.

We provide extensive extracurricular programs in order to enhance student skills in areas of personal interest, particularly in sport and the creative and performing arts. We work closely with parents and enjoy the benefits of an active Parents and Citizens’ Association and School Council.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach K-6 with a demonstrated ability to engage students through high quality, differentiated curriculum while applying evidence-informed pedagogy to improve outcomes for all students.

Approval to teach primary library, or currently undertaking Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education, with the ability to evaluate, select, acquire, catalogue and maintain a diverse range of high-quality resources in multiple formats, including digital tools, online databases and print collections.

Well-developed communication and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to build and strengthen relationships and partnerships between school staff, students, parents and the wider community.

Demonstrated capacity and/or willingness to contribute to whole school extra-curricular programs.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
