The Opportunity

n

Hitachi is seeking an experienced Senior Diesel Mechanic to join our Launceston Workshop team.

n

Reporting to the Service Manager, you'll be a key technical expert within the workshop, applying your skills across diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of our industry-leading equipment. You'll also have the chance to share your knowledge, mentor others, and contribute to the success of a close-knit team.

n

This role is ideal for a skilled mechanic looking to take the next step in their career while remaining hands-on and working with a leading OEM.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Perform new machine assembly and pre-delivery inspections
n
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, and fault finding on a range of Hitachi earthmoving equipment
n
- Provide technical guidance and support to a small team of workshop technicians
n
- Assist the Service Manager with coordinating workflow and prioritising jobs
n
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
n
- Support apprentices and junior technicians through mentoring and knowledge sharing
n
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure customer expectations and deadlines are met
n
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across workshop operations
n
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
n
- Champion Hitachi's strong safety-first culture
n

About You

n

To be successful in this role you will have:

n

n
- Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics, Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, or similar
n
- Strong experience maintaining and repairing earthmoving, construction,



mining equipment or similar
n
- Advanced diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities
n
- Previous experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting technicians
n
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
n
- A strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service
n
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team workplace
n
