The Residential Care officer ensures that the individual needs of our participants are met, specifically in the areas of personal care,

n

social, emotional, maximising the living, social and recreational skills of our participants.

Task & responsibilities

n

Main Tasks:

n

As a Residential care officer, you will provide personal care and person-centred supports to participants with a disability in our group

n

homes and undertake everyday activities such as assisting with personal hygiene whilst fostering independent living skills. As a

n

Residential care officer, you will empower participants by assisting them to make choices that will lead to achievement of their

n

individual goals. Provide high quality and consistent care and support in accordance with the participant's care plans to those

n

living within a Group Home or Shared Disability Accommodation. Performing home based tasks such as food preparation, cooking, and

n

housework. Respecting participants as individuals and supporting them to maintain their purpose in life, while offering choice range

n

and personal control over all choices. Providing care in accordance with individual support plans to people living in our group homes in

n

Raymond Terrace and Maitland.

n

The main task mainly includes but not limited to:

n

Providing care and supervision for children or disabled persons in group housing or in the NDIS participants' residence,

n

assessing participants' needs and planning, developing and implementing educational, training and support programs

n

interviewing clients and assessing the nature and extent of difficulties monitoring and reporting on the progress of participants

n

referring participants to agencies that can provide additional help

n

assessing Supported independent living and group home participants need and resources for health, welfare, housing, employment,

n





training and other facilities and services

n

liaising with other NDIS providers, community groups, welfare agencies, government bodies and private businesses about

n

community issues and promoting awareness of community resources and services

n

supporting families and providing education and care for children and disabled persons in adult service units, group housing and

n

government institutions

n

assisting young people to solve social, emotional and financial problems

n

preparing submissions for funding and resources, and reports to government bodies and other agencies

n

RESPONSIBILITIES:

n

Assisting with Daily Living: This includes tasks like personal care (bathing, dressing, toileting), meal preparation, and medication

n

management.

n

Providing Emotional Support: Offering a listening ear, encouragement, and a safe space for our participants in our group homes to

n

express their feelings and needs.

n

Promoting Independence: Helping our group home participants develop life skills like budgeting, shopping, and cooking to foster

n

independence and self-sufficiency.

n

Organizing Activities: Planning and facilitating social, recreational, and educational activities to enhance participants' well-being and

n

Ensuring Safety and Security: Monitoring the environment, implementing safety protocols, and responding to emergencies.

n

Developing Support Plans: In collaboration with the group home team leader or supervisor, you will be creating individualized plans

n

that outline goals, strategies, and interventions to address identified needs.

n

Monitoring Progress: working with your team leader, regularly track participants' progress, documenting any changes or concerns,

n

and adjusting support plans as needed.

n

Working with Families: Liaising with families to provide updates, gather information, and involve them in the care process.

n

Collaborating with Professionals: Working with healthcare professionals such as our registered nurse, social workers, and other

n

relevant agencies to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.

n

Maintaining Records: Keeping accurate and up-to-date records of participants care, progress, and any incidents.

n

Promoting Client Rights: Ensuring participants' rights to privacy, dignity, and autonomy are respected

n

Encouraging Participation: Empowering participants to participate in decision-making processes related to their care and well-being

n

Advocating for Residents: Representing participants' needs and interests when interacting with external agencies and services

n

Qualification & experience

n

Relevant qualifications: Cert III, IV or Diploma in Individual Support, Disability Services, Community Services,

n

Aged Care or a related field, Level 2 First Aid Certificate,

n

NDIS Workers Orientation Module

n

Australia Federal Police Criminal Check Working rights in Australia, visa documents required on application

n

NDIS Workers Screening Check Working With Children Check

n
